Vasco Gouveia

 

 

He first concluded his studies at "Fundação Musical dos Amigos da Criança" in 1988. After he was awarded with a scholarship by "Calouste Gulbenkian" which allowed him to continue his studies in London at "Guildhall School of Music and Drama" with Averil Williams.

In 1993, he was awarded with a "Fullbright Studies" scholarship which allowed him to conclude his master in flute interpretation in the "University of Boston". During his stay in the USA he was awarded with several prizes such as "Director's Award", "Wood's Arts Prize" and an artistic distinction by the "Phi Kappa & Lambda Society".

As a flutist he has presented himself throughout Portugal as was well in countries such as Spain, France, England, Italy, Belgium, Sweden and USA.

He's currently a teacher at "Fundação Musical dos Amigos da Criança" in Lisbon and at "ISEIT - Instituto Superior de Estudos Interculturas e Transdisciplinares" in Almada.

 

 

Pedro Couto Soares

 

 

Pedro Couto Soares has dedicated especially to the Early and Contemporary Music, sharing its activity by three instruments: recorder, traverso, Baroque and modern transverse flute. Born in Porto, he concluded his studies in this city's Conservatory of with a high ranking. In 1982, a scholarship from the Gulbenkian Foundation and from the Secretariat of State for culture allowed him to continue improving his studies in Amsterdam (1983-89). In this city he had recorder classes with Walter van Hauwe and Marijke Miessen, and flute with Abbie de Quant and Jorge Caryevschi. He obtained the degrees of soloist in flute at the Sweelinck Conservatory bevel of Amsterdam (1988) and in transverse flute at the Academia Superior de Artes Constantijn Huygens in Zwolle (1989). He studied Baroque flute with Philipp Suzanne in the courses of Baroque music of Matthew.

He's a member of several chamber music groups and played in some of the most important Portuguese music festivals, in many countries of Europe, Brazil, USA and India. Among the many recordings it's possible to highlight the CD recorder solo "Differences", and a CD of a 6-keyed flute from the classical period, with Helena Marinho (pianoforte). He taught at Porto's Music Conservatory, at ESMAE, at the University of Évora and at the University of Aveiro, where he created the class of transverse flute in Music Education in 1990. He is currently a Professor at "Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa" and pursues doctoral studies at the University of Aveiro, about applications of the Alexander Technique to teaching and performing the flute.

 

 

Katharine Rawdon

 

 

Recently celebrated 20 years as principal flute of the Portuguese Symphony Orchestra of Teatro Nacional de s. Carlos, whose repertoire includes symphonic works, Opera and Ballet, and collaborates with conductors such as Rafael Frübeck de Burgos, Michel Plasson, Nello Santi and Jeffrey Tate.

Flutist also of OrquestrUtópica and founder of the duo Machina Mundi, plays also Piccolo, alto flute and bass. Has appeared as a soloist in with OSP, the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Harbour and the new Filarmonia, playing concerts of J. S. Bach (complete works), Vivaldi (Piccolo and flute), Mozart, Boulez, and Alexander Delgado.

In the USA she played under the direction of Leonard Bernstein and Kurt Masur with the Tanglewood Festival Orchestra, at Carnegie Hall, with the National Orchestra of New York, and at Carnegie Recital Hall with the Manhattan Wind Quintet. Was awarded bt the Thomas J. Watson Foundation (fellowship for independent study for Europe), the Artists International Young Artists Debut, and the international competitions of Chamber music Yellow Springs and Fischoff, among others. Has a Bachelor of Arts from Pomona College, where she won the Allen Prize in Music and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and a master's degree in music, with honors, of the Manhattan School of Music in New York.  Teacher in the Castelo Branco Polytechnic ESART Institute since 2009.

 

 

Monika Streitová

 

 

The flutist Monika Streitová graduated at the Music and Performing Arts Academy of the Bratislava University, where she also completed a PhD on Contemporary Music Performance, directed by M. Jurkovic. As a researcher she is working on a Post-Doctorate at the Aveiro University with a fellowship of the Foundation for Science and Technology. In 2000 she obtained a scholarship to attend the Darmstadt Summer Course in Germany, where she studied with C. Levine. She has also attended the Debrezen Contemporary Music Courses, directed by Istvan Matuz. During her research work she has always kept in contact with contemporary composers, namely R. Berger, J. Y. Bosseur, D. MacMouline, B. Schaffer, J. Guillou, V. Melo e J. P. Oliveira and has premiered several of their works in international contemporary music festivals. Her repertoire includes about eighty world premieres. She has worked with BBC, ORF2 Wien and BRB Berlin. Streitová has recorded 4 solo CD and 10 CD recorded with several ensembles. She has given concerts in Germany, Austria, France, Hungary, The Netherlands, England, Poland, Portugal and Spain, among other countries.

 

 

João Ramos Marta

 

 

João Ramos Marta was born in Portugal where he studied the flute and got his degree cum laude from the Conservatório Superior de Música do Porto with Olavo Barros. Thereafter he continued his studies in Holland with a scholarship from Nuffic and Gulbenkian Foundation where he graduated with a Master-degree. He studied modern flute, among others, with Jaques Zoon and traverso flute with Wilbert Hazelzet. He plays with several ensembles, particularly at Ensemble Conservatoire. At 'ArtEZ institute of the arts’ he coordinates the division young talent and teaches modern flute, methodic and chamber music. João plays on a gold Jochen Mehnert flute and a several traverso flutes build by Fridtjof Aurin and Alain Weemaels.

 

 

Ana Raquel Lima

 

 

Studied in Porto, Karlsruhe and in London (Royal Academy of Music) and currently attends a doctorate at the University of Aveiro. Was awarded with a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation.

Holds several awards in competitions, most notably the J. P. Rampal.Collaborates regularly with the Remix Ensemble, Sond'Ar-te Electric Ensemble and Symphonic Orchestra of Galicia. Collaborated with leading Portuguese orchestras, participating in major national and international music festivals, as well as in tours by France, Germany, Austria, and Spain.Has performed as a soloist with the Remix Ensemble, the Orchestra of Warsaw, Lisboa Sinfonieta Symphony, the Orchestra Filarmonia das Beiras, the Válcea Philharmonic Orchestra (Romania), and the Ensemble of Catholic University of Porto.Integrates the Duo Pourquoi Pas and is a teacher of the Flute class at Escola Superior de Música do Porto.In 2011, the Royal Academy of Music in London granted her the prestigious title of "ARAM" associate member.

 

 

Nuno Inácio

 

 

Described as "... a young flutist of wide and colorful sound, excellent technical control and interesting musicality. "in newspaper Público, is since 2005, first flute of the Metropolitan Orchestra of Lisbon. Had his degree by Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa with highest classification. Was between 2000 and 2002 disciple of Trevor Wye, in England. Holds a master's degree in musical arts by UNLESML.

Among the awards he received are: 1st prize in the international competition of Flute "L ' U. F. A. M. "in France; 1st prize in the competition "young musicians Awards" of the RDP and Silva Pereira Conductor Prize. Among several performances in Portugal and abroad highlight their integration, in 2012, at the 8th International Flute Convention (in Manchester) of the British Flute Society, a Recital dedicated to French music. He was soloist with the Gulbenkian Orchestra, OSP, OML, OCCO, Sinfonietta de Lisboa.

As part of its chamber music activity, collaborates with the Moscow Piano Quartet, ensemble D ´ arcs, pianist Paulo Pacheco and harpist Stephanie Manzo. It was dedicatário of works designed by composers Edward Patriarch, Fernando Lobo and Sérgio Azevedo.

Guides often Master classes all over the country and, annually since 2008, annual courses of the Academy of music in Vila do Conde. Currently teacher of Chamber music at the ESML and Professor of flute in Metropolitan Academy.

 

 

Margarida Fonseca Santos

 

 

Margarida Fonseca Santos was a Professor of Education and Musical training in several schools, notably in Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. She began writing in 1993 and studied creative writing, Writing for theater, Scripting and short film. Has several books published, mostly in the area of children and youth. Won several awards, suach as the national prize for tales "Manuel da Fonseca", the revelation Prize in Fiction APE IPLB (novel) and the literary prize Manuel Teixeira Gomes (novel). Writes regularly for theatre, both for children and for adults.

In 2005 leaves ESML to devote herself to writing, stimulating creative writing workshops, writing for theatre and writing for children and young people, in particular in the FCSH da Universidade Católica, on Restart and EC. On Creative Writing Online. Has two books of songs for children published, "singing" stories and "the secret of the forest". The last published novel is entitled "Let me into your life". Publishes, in the Education Supplement of the Jornal de Letras, a short story every issue, and is responsible for the blog www. 77palavras. blogspot. with stories in 77 words (creative writing, with illustrations by Frances towers). In parallel works Performance, Mental training for musicians, sportsmen, students and to brief the publication of a manual on this subject.
